Layered silver gold ad diamond earrings on a grey background

Flower jewellery in the making

I love making my flower jewellery but it's a lengthy process. It goes something like this...

  • Pierce (cut out) silver flower pieces, file edges, sand edges, texture surfaces, anneal, dome. For triple layered earrings repeat six times.
  • Solder together.
  • Cast ring, sand, polish, texturise.
  • Solder ring to flowers, without melting the previous soldering.
  • Make stone setting.
  • Solder setting to flowers without melting the previous solderings.
  • Set stones, careful now!
  • Final finish and burnish edges.
  • Phew.

Each piece of jewellery is unique, with slightly varying shapes and the way they're put together. And with different stones and their positioning. Focal stones are set in silver or gold, with others set direct into the flower layers.

Stones that work well here are diamonds (of course!), topaz, tourmalines, sapphires, apatites and garnets. If you'd like your own flower piece with your own selection of stones, just get in touch
